How online self-presentation affects the Identity construction

 

The study extended Goffman's 'Self-Presentation' theory to the social media context. 

This research uses qualitative methodology to discuss in-depth questions of: Firstly, how university students present themselves via Renren (a Chinese Social networking site). This would go back to Leary’s presentation tactics theory, which uncovers the specific acts of managing impression. Secondly, the research will discuss motivation of online self-presentation as why people present differently online. Thirdly, the research will to uncover the changes in perception of self while online-presentation.
